DVC Points Chart 2021: 5 Things You Should Know

DVC Points Chart 2021 – If you visit Disney properties often and plan to go for many years to come, a Disney Vacation Club (DVC) membership might be worthwhile. The DVC is a timeshare where you buy part of a “home resort.” You get annual points to visit there and locations worldwide.

Know that the DVC has most of any timeshare’s costs and limitations, but is more flexible about location and scheduling. Memberships are also more in-demand than the average timeshare, so you might have less trouble selling your part if you want out.

Looking at a DVC points chart 2021 edition helps illustrate how the program works. Here’s what to know.

          1. Every Resort Has a Separate Chart

Some hotel rewards and other programs that use points let users go wherever they want for the same value.

As handy as that is, don’t make the mistake of thinking the DVC point system works like any other points travel program. The timeshare has a more complex, unique setup.

While members often talk about a singular chart, there are multiple DVC points charts. Each Disney Resort has its value system. The charts show point values for various rooms, days of the week, and dates at each location.

Part of this is because some resorts and other destinations cost more than others based on relative popularity and opulence. Also, equating suites between resorts doesn’t always make sense. The DVC makes a chart for every location to dodge the issue.

A general rule of thumb is that you can expect to use more points to stay at high-demand destinations. That may hold even when rooms don’t cost more in dollars than their counterparts elsewhere.

          2. You Can Go With a Big Group

In a sense, the DVC point system limits what you can do with your purchased share of a Disney Resort. Yet, the Vacation Club’s many destinations also make group trips easier compared to some timeshares.

You may know of timeshares at individual locations, such as cabins and lake houses. While you can take all the people you want, in theory, you can’t make the building or property bigger.

Partial owners also have a set time or times to use the property. Scheduling around many busy lives isn’t easy as you’ll conflict with other partial owners. Cramming a big family into a tiny house at inconvenient times makes vacationing miserable.

The DVC doesn’t have those problems. Since you can go all over the world with your points and there’s a huge range of dates to choose from, you can ensure everyone’s available before booking.

Making room for a large group isn’t hard, either. When you compare DVC point charts, you’ll see some suites have space for a dozen people. If you have more travelers or go to a resort with smaller rooms, you’ll want multiple bookings.

          3. You Don’t Need a Ton of Points to Travel

Being a DVC member comes with typical timeshare costs like loan payments and upkeep fees every month, even when you’re not traveling. As far as points go, many resorts’ reasonable rates may surprise you.

If you have a small family or friend group, some charts show nightly prices in the single digits. You won’t get the VIP treatment, but you can find good value for a basic visit. A smart budget allows multiple point-funded Disney vacations per year considering each member gets 150 annual points.

While you can be thrifty, the ability to save or “bank” DVC points lets you plan extravagant trips. Waiting a few years to save up hundreds or thousands of points opens your possibilities. You can also buy DVC points for sale online if you can’t wait.

          4. Point Values Vary Throughout the Year

If the idea of using points instead of cash for each stay has you dreaming of holiday travel for a huge bargain, think again.

If you use your DVC membership often, you may spend less per trip than if you didn’t have it. If you only use the timeshare during the holidays, on the other hand, chances are good that you won’t get your money’s worth before several years of loan payments.

Points don’t only differ between resorts and room types. Costs at each location shift month-to-month.

A holiday resort stay costs more points than lower-traffic times. There’s no mystery to this method. You can learn how many points you need for each date range using a DVC point calculator or chart.

On top of that variation, you compete with everyone— DVC members and others—trying to book at popular times. Being a partial owner doesn’t guarantee you a room whenever you want.

          5. The DVC Points Chart 2021 Edition Isn’t Good for 2022

One benefit of Disney Vacation Club membership is that each unused DVC point can roll over to the next year.

It’s not automatic like some roll-overs—you have to save or “bank” your points before a deadline. “Banking” complements the option to “borrow” points from the upcoming year.

While the points can transfer between years, point charts don’t.

The number of points needed changes as resort prices do. They could decrease in theory but you’re more apt to see an increase as costs often rise. Find the points chart for the year of travel before planning or you might come up short.

While this makes it hard to plan far-distant vacations, charts come out around a year in advance. You can plan a vacation at your home resort up to 11 months ahead of time. Vacations anywhere else bought with points book no sooner than 7 months before.

You may run into a snag, considering that the average traveler can book a room at any Disney Resort 499 days ahead of time. They can’t do so online, but can if they call Disney or use a travel agent. Cruises, dining, and other activities book closer to the time of travel, so you shouldn’t have to worry as much about those.

Build a Fun and Prosperous Life

Now that you know these facts about the DVC points chart 2021 edition, you know how to start using your points at Disney Resorts. Resort booking is one of the many ways being a DVC timeshare member can make trips easier. If you want to learn about other ways to enjoy life, you’re on the right website.
