Jimmy Donaldson, popularly referred to as MrBeast, the most subscribed YouTube channel, uploaded his latest video, in which he treats blindness in over 1,000 people.
The video was released three days ago and has already racked up an impressive 70million views. Although it is undoubtedly a hit for MrBeast’s books. As per the account on Twitter, the video caused some controversy – at the very least on Twitter. In the video, MrBeast offers a 10-minute procedure that can cure blindness suffered by 1000 people. According to the surgeon, Half the people with blindness could be treated with this procedure.
MrBeast isn’t content to stop there. He covers the cost of the procedure in various nations, provides a Tesla to one patient and a $10,000 donation to another patient. And donates funds for follow-up procedures above his 1,000-person limit.
Unfortunately, some as shady have seen all this generosity. In essence, some claim that MrBeast utilized the curing process to make a profit. To make money.
One user on Twitter wrote that “he just makes people dance on camera for basic human needs so he can make millions. It’s weird”. Though this was only one of the posts, there were enough of the same view to prompt MrBeast to reply. The YouTuber on his Twitter account stated that he didn’t understand the reasoning behind “curable blindness is a thing.” He also said that governments must be able to cover the cost of blindness for individuals and, in the majority of instances, allows people to return to work. The government will be able to recover the money in taxes paid by the blind, who can now get back to work.
The vast majority of viewers who watched the video by MrBeast think it’s an overall positive thing. Since, currently, there are more than 1,000 viewers of the video that they couldn’t get before this one.
