Paramore is back. The three-piece, comprised of Hayley Williams, Zac Farro, and Taylor York also returned from their absence to release their first album after more than six years. The Reason Why, which was released via Atlantic Records on Friday (February 10).).
“‘This Is Why’ was the last track we compose on the record. To be truthful, I was bored of writing lyrics, however Taylor got me to agree with Zac and myself that we needed to come up with this final concept,” Williams previously said about The album’s name track in an announcement to the press. “What was born out of this was the track that would be used as the name of the album. It sums up the myriad of absurd emotions, the highs and lows of living in 2022 and being alive even for the past 3 or 4 years. You’d think that after the global pandemic of biblical proportions , and the imminent end of the world humans could have discovered it inside themselves that they could be more compassionate or more compassionate or some other thing.”
The last moment that Paramore dropped an album in the band was in 2017’s After the Laughter, which features tracks such as “Hard Times” and “Rose-Colored Boy.” Since then, Williams dropped her solo album, Petals for Armor, in 2020. Farro has released a variety of solo albums under the name Halfnoise.
On January 1, Paramore appeared as a guest on Billboard’s online cover. The group talked about their reunion as a group. “At this point, I don’t understand how we’re still doing it,” Williams said. “Because it just feels like against all odds every single time — which, honestly, I feel like we’re the most annoying band in the world because it’s always like, ‘Oh, we overcame this, and now we’re making this album.'”
The new album includes previous singles “C’est Comme Ca,” “The News,” and the title track. You can listen to the way from Paramore’s The Reason below.
