In the realm of Transformers franchise, a half-decade has passed since soft reboot featuring the throwback 80s picture Bumblebee. A movie that was quite charming. Rise of the Beasts, the forthcoming franchise entry, inhabits the same new timeline that was first established by Bumblebee. Bringing along with it some fresh faces. Steven Caple Jr., director of Creed II, will be taking the helm. And the movie will introduce some brand new machines in the shape of the Maximals, Predacons, and Terrorcons.
Set during the 90s, the movie will star Anthony Ramos and Dominque Fishback as a duo of humans who will team up with the Autobots to uncover more about the new Transformers that have appeared out of nowhere. These new machines, known as the Maximals, have the ability to shapeshift into organic animals. While the Terrorcons can transform into vehicles like most of the other Transformers in the franchise. The Autobots will require all the support they can get as they face off against one of the greatest villains in the entire series, Unicron, a planet-killer.
The two factions, Maximals and Predacons, were extremely belove in the past, thanks to the Beast Wars line of toys. Rise is banking on nostalgia that specifically targeted at those who grew up with that particular component of the franchise. Even some of the new Autobots, such as Wheeljack, Mirage, and an Arcee that viewers will undoubtedly remember, are included in this.
Transformers films are usually a dependable source of amusement, and Rise appears to be no different. June is already quite busy with movies, but these films typically perform very well during the summer. Additionally, it features Ron Perlman as a gigantic robotic gorilla. Which could be worth the price of admission on its own.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will be hitting theaters on June 9th and will also star Pete Davidson, Michelle Yeoh, and Tobe Nwigwe.
