The Lakers have been playing well in recent games, but unfortunately, D’Angelo Russell has suffered another injury. He was initially listed as probable for Tuesday’s game against the Jazz but was downgraded to questionable due to left foot soreness. Ultimately, he ruled out just over an hour before the game. However, head coach Darvin Ham stated that the move was precautionary and that Russell could have played if needed.
Russell has had a few injuries throughout the season, including a twisted ankle and right hip soreness. But after his return on Wednesday in Chicago, the Lakers looked impressive for two and a half games. In the first half of the game against the Houston Rockets, Russell had six points, four assists, and three rebounds on 2-4 shooting in 15 minutes before ruled out with left foot soreness.
The Lakers will finish their road trip on Tuesday against the Jazz before returning to Los Angeles for a game against the Clippers on Wednesday. It’s the final week of the season, so every game matters as the Lakers aim to move up the playoff standings.
When Russell is on the court, the Lakers’ starting lineup has performed well, with a net rating of +13.7 in 28 minutes together across three games. Unfortunately, injuries have been a constant issue for the Lakers this season, and it’s a shame that the final week of the season will also include some injury drama. Hopefully, Russell’s injury isn’t serious and won’t cost him extended time.
