After a span of more than four decades, Hollywood actor Scott Baio has decided to part ways with California, joining the growing list of celebrities bidding farewell to the state. The “Happy Days” star, who has been a resident of Los Angeles for a long time, took to Twitter to announce his decision, citing the lack of safety as the primary reason for his departure.
Baio, 62, posted on the social media platform, “After 45 years, I’m making my way to finally ‘exit stage right’ from California,” accompanied by a quote from a local report stating that “The most recent survey conducted by the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority found approximately 69,000 people experiencing homelessness in L.A. County and 41,000 in the city in 2022.”
The actor went on to explain that the rising homelessness crisis in the state has contributed to a drop in property values, and that the rampant crime, which goes largely unpunished, has led to increased prices, making California an unsafe place to live.
Baio’s move to leave California was met with criticism, with some online commenters suggesting that his “right-wing views” would not be missed by fellow Californians. The actor responded, “Maybe not, but they’ll certainly miss the high taxes I pay!”
Baio has already put his luxurious five-bedroom, 4.5-bathroom mansion in Woodland Hills on the market for a whopping $3.85 million, according to Realtor.com. The actor had purchased the property in 2010 for $1.85 million.
