Chris Shiflett, the longtime guitarist of the Foo Fighters, is launching a podcast called “Shred With Shifty” that will focus on everything guitar-related. The podcast aims to bring listeners closer to their favorite guitar players by delving into their musical history and inspirations.
Shiflett shared the news about his show with Variety, explaining that the idea for “Shred With Shifty” came from his observation of people on the internet attempting to explain guitar parts, often getting them only partially correct. He wanted to go straight to the source and find out from his favorite players what they actually did on the solos he loves.
Moreover, the podcast will feature an impressive lineup of guests, including Rivers Cuomo of Weezer, Alex Lifeson of Rush, Nile Rodgers of Chic, Brad Paisley, and many others. Additionally, the episodes will be video-based, exclusively available on Volume.com. This will provide viewers with the unique opportunity to witness the creative process and observe renowned guitarists in action.
Shiflett, who has recently released singles for his upcoming solo album, expressed his passion for the guitar and the joy he derives from learning from his musical influences. He specifically mentioned his love for lead guitar and all things related to lead guitar playing, such as amplifiers, pedals, stories about recording, and, of course, guitars.
In addition to working on his podcast, Shiflett is actively preparing for the release of the Foo Fighters’ 11th studio album, titled “But Here We Are.” The band, with touring drummer Josh Freese, is gearing up for this new musical endeavor.
